Alice Stancil Price, daughter of Ronia Hill and Stephen Stancil, was born on January 12, 1923. She was a granddaughter of Tempy Ann Stancil Hill and a sister to Mozelle Stancil Narron, Ora Stancil Price, Eula Mae Stancil, Shirley Stancil Cockrell, Willard "Bill" Stancil, and C.D. Stancil.
Alice's early life on a farm instilled in her a strong sense of responsibility. From the tender age of 5, she was tasked with caring for her very ill grandmother, Lina Stancil, meaning she missed out on attending school with her siblings. She was 15 by the time Lina passed away, making Alice truly self-educated. Despite these early challenges, she held vivid memories, including a special one from 1933 when she and her mother Ronia had dinner with Aunt Minnie Stancil before Minnie's visit to her sons in California. Alice also remembered the beautiful and ingeniously decorated home of Glenn and Mozelle Stancil Campbell.
In 1940, Alice met Jimmie Robert Price, who was raised by Milton Price. Jimmie enlisted in the Army and served, guarding prisoners in Wisconsin. The couple was in Smithfield, North Carolina, attending the Annual Farmers Day celebration and dance when the end of World War II was announced. Alice and Jimmie were married on December 31, 1945, in Dillon, South Carolina. Alice wore a blue suit, black blouse, blue hat, and carried a black bag with matching shoes for their wedding day.
After the war, Jimmie initially farmed before being hired as a truck driver for Swift and Company. Alice worked in a garment factory in Wendell. Together, they had two sons.

Douglas Henry "Dudly" Price Sr. was born Sept. 3, 1948.
Dudly notably served in the Army from May 10, 1968, to December 13, 1969, including a tour in Vietnam for which he earned two Bronze Stars. Tragically, Dudly passed away on March 31, 2004, in Greenville, Pitt, North Carolina, and was buried in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Over the years, Alice and Jimmie enjoyed vacations at the North Carolina shore, visiting museums, and attending air shows. Alice took great pride in her heritage and the memories that connected her to the Stancil family. She was a long-time member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church in Kenly and enjoyed tending to her flowers.
Jimmie Robert Price, a veteran of World War II and a member of Bethany Baptist Church, passed away on Jan. 7, 2000, in Johnston County at the age of 75. His funeral was conducted by the Rev. Leslie Parrish at Bethany Baptist Church, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Alice became a widow at 76.
She passed away at the age of 97 on January 7, 2021, at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, North Carolina, after a life that started with difficulty but was marked by resilience, family devotion, and a strong faith.
She is buried at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery in Kenly, where she had been a devoted member.
