He grew up in a large, close-knit family alongside his brothers Bruce, Rex, and Wallace, and his sisters Gladys "Blondie" Alford and Ella Everett. William also had an infant sister, Evonne, who passed away in 1944 and is buried at Stancil's Chapel.
On November 12, 1976, William married Bertha Elaine Crocker, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted nearly 50 years. Together they raised two daughters, Melinda and Sherry, and William took great pride in being a grandfather to Garrett and Tyler Bass. Family was the center of his life, and he carried the Narron family's deep roots in Johnston and Nash counties with quiet steadiness.
William spent his life in the Middlesex area, surrounded by the community and kin who shaped him. He endured the loss of several siblings and, later, his daughter Melinda, but remained anchored by his faith, his marriage, and the love he held for his family.
William Willis passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 75, and was laid to rest in New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Cemetery in Kenly — the same cemetery where generations of his family have been buried.
