Early Life and Family
Myrtie Hill, the oldest child of Clarence and Ella Renfrow Hill, was born on July 19, 1921, in Johnston County, North Carolina.
She married Eldred "Tom" Francis Deans, who was born on March 31, 1918, in Wilson County. Together, Myrtie and Tom had two children: James Robert Deans and Fran Deans Joseph.
Tom enlisted into the Navy on Jan. 9, 1942, at Fort Bragg, NC. He was machinist's mate First Class. Tom was discharged Jan. 16, 1946.
Son James served in the Navy from Jan. 15, 1968 to Oct. 14, 1969.
Passing
Myrtie Hill Deans passed away on December 19, 1992.
Obituary
Eldred "Tom" Deans passed away at the age of 80 on July 18, 1998, at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He is buried alongside his wife, Myrtie, in Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson, North Carolina.
