Amy Jeanette Price, the eldest child of Ellen Stancil Price and Gordon Franklin Price Jr., was born on October 3, 1976, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She grew up alongside her younger siblings, Melissa Ruth Price and Seth Parker Price, forming a close and loving family bond.
Amy spent her childhood and teenage years in Smithfield, Virginia, where she quickly became known for her kindness, maturity, and steady presence. Friends, teachers, and coworkers often described her as someone who made others feel seen and supported — a young woman with a warm heart and a natural ability to lift others up.
Active in both school and community life, Amy was a member of the Smithfield Dolphins Swim Team and worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor. She was patient with younger swimmers and took pride in helping them grow more confident in the water. At Smithfield High School, she participated in the Spanish Club and traveled to New York City to attend a United Nations Peacekeeping Conference, reflecting her curiosity about the wider world and her eagerness to learn.
After graduating, Amy continued her education at Carteret Community College in Morehead City, North Carolina. She was also a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Suffolk, where she found connection and community.
Tragically, Amy's life was cut short at the age of 19 following an automobile accident on March 24, 1996, in Smithfield, Virginia. Her passing deeply affected the Smithfield and Suffolk communities. Nearly 500 mourners attended her funeral — a testament to the many lives she touched in her short but meaningful time.
Amy is laid to rest at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Kenly, North Carolina. She is remembered with enduring love by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her kindness, her steady spirit, and the joy she brought to others continue to live on in their memories.
