Sudie Bailey Sullivan, mother of Billy Ray Sullivan, died at 90 on Jan. 25, 2013, at the Brian Center, Wilson, North Carolina. Sudie was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Johnston County, North Carolina. She is the daughter of the late Radford and Delia Hill Bailey; and widow of Clovis Thomas Sullivan. She is the grandmother of Billy Thomas Sullivan and Susan Raye Sullivan. Sudie will be missed for her love, devotion and pride in her family. She delighted in showing relatives the Bailey Family Cemetery and introducing them to family members who lived nearby and sharing family history and memories. She is buried in the Bailey Family Cemetery.

Albert Ray "AR" Mercer, husband of Lottie Sutton Mercer; father of Craig Mercer Sr., and his wife Joan; Ronnie Sutton, and his wife Terry; Gregory Sutton, and his wife Karen; and Teresa Sutton; and brother of Margaret Mercer Williams, and her husband Hilbert; Wanda Mercer Roberts, and her husband Gary; and Reuben Mercer, and his wife Shirley; died at 77 on Feb. 21, 2013, at his home in Beulaville, North Carolina. He was born July 30, 1935, in Duplin County, North Carolina. He is son of the late Willie Flave and Beulah Stancil Mercer and brother of the late Ann Mercer Kornegay. He is the grandfather of Craig Mercer Jr., Brian Sutton, Dustan Sutton, Mark Sutton and John Sutton. He is buried in Devotional Gardens in Warsaw, North Carolina.

Jimmie Lee Williams, Henry Branch, husband of Nancy Lloyd Williams; father of Ricky Williams; and brother of Bettie Lou Williams Graham, died at 82 on April 11, 2013, at the Veterans Hospital, in Durham, North Carolina. He was born June 1, 1930, in Durham. He is son of the late James and Essie Stancil Williams and brother of the late Kenneth Aaron Williams. Jimmy served in the Navy for four years.

Thelma Lee Stancil Pipkin, Samuel Branch, mother of Shirley Ann Pipkin; Alice Leigh Pipkin Parker; and George Dallas "Dee Dee" Pipkin Jr., and his wife Gayle; and sister of Charles "Chuck" Charleston Stancil, and his wife Judy; Gary Wayne Stancil; died at 92 on May 12, 2013, at home surrounded by family in Hayes, Virginia. She was born Nov. 21, 1920. She is the widow of George Dallas Pipkin Sr.; daughter of the late Freeman Elbert Stancil and Annie Viola Renfrow; step-daughter of the late Gladys Pearl Lamm Stancil; sister of the late Eloise Virginia Stancil, Annie Laurie Stancil Jones, and husband William Henry; Shirley Ann Stancil; Shelia Jan Stancil Davis, and husband Leland; Freeman Durward Stancil, and wife Bessie; Josiah Fernandas "Fernie" Stancil, and wife Doris; and James Elbert "Jay" Stancil. She is the grandmother of Samantha Pipkin; Jessica Marie Rama Hazelett, and husband John; George Tyrone Pipkin, Jerry Lee Woodlief Jr., and wife Michelle; Gregory Scott Woodlief; and great-grandmother of Danielle Pipkin; Morgan Ann Woodlief; Megan Jane Woodlief; Taylor Marie Woodlief; Jerry Lee "Bubba" Jr.; Corey Scott Woodlief; Gregory Scott Woodlief Jr., and wife Mary; Jordan Michael Hazelett; and great-great-grandmother of Santana Delfina Mercaco and Ella Paige Woodlief. Thelma joined us for many reunions, including the 2012. Thelma was the oldest present and held the youngest member, Ethan Thomas Gunst, 10 ½ months, son of Ross and Elizabeth Stancil Gunst of the George Branch. She is buried beside her beloved husband, George, in the Peninsula Memorial Park Cemetery, 12750 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, Virginia.

Andrew Edward Crabtree, Henry Branch, son of Debbie and Guy Crabtree; brother of Ashley Crabtree; died at 19 on June 15, 2013, in Durham, North Carolina. He was born Oct. 8, 1993, in Durham. He is brother of the late Patrick Todd Crabtree. Andrew was diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue tumor cancer, synovial sarcoma, in January 2011. Andrew graduated from Riverside High School in Durham, N.C., on June 9, 2011. In the fall of 2011, he was accepted into the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, the alma mater of his mother, father and first cousin, Stephanie O’Brien.

Berri Ward, Josiah Branch, born Ara Gyorgyi Herczeg, daughter of Maria Lakatos Herczeg; partner of the late Erik Martin Stancil; mother of Jonathan Harry Stancil; and Linda, and her husband Bishop; and sister of Emese, Sandi, Dalma, George, Tunde and Magor; died at 48 om June 19, 2013, in Belmont, California. Berri was born July 4, 1964, in San Mateo, California. She is the grandmother of Dominick and Damion. Berri graduated from Notre Dame High School in Belmont in 1982 and went on to work for nearly 30 years in accounting at various Bay Area firms.

He is the son of the late Resley and Randy Edwards Hill; and brother of the late Joseph Lynwood Hill Sr. and Kenneth Ray Hill. Lynwood is grandfather of Tucker Hill.

Judith "Judy" Ann Wilson Stancil, Samuel Branch, daughter of Carmlee Harris Wilson; wife of Charles "Chuck" Charleston Stancil; mother of Robin Stancil Berry, and husband Brian; Debbie Prior; and Robert Edward Stancil; died at 69 on Sept. 13, 2013, in Blairsville, Georgia. Judy was born Oct. 12, 1943, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She is the daughter of the late Harry Wilson. She is the grandmother of Peggy Lee Stancil, Connor Justin Berry and Collin Daniel Berry. Judy and Chuck attended the 2007 Stancil Reunion. Judy developed brain cancer in 2011.

Henry "Ed" Edward Wallace, Harvey Branch, husband of Irene for 68 years; and father of Billy, and wife Joan; and Bobby, and wife Nancy; died at 93 on Nov. 23, 2013, in Virginia. He was born June 17, 1920, in Philadelphia. He is the son of the late William Harvey and Ida Belle Wallace. He is the grandfather of Katy. Ed served 24 years of active and reserve duty. He enlisted on May 13, 1941, at Fort Bragg, NC. He was a B-17 Bomber co-pilot over Germany. Ed was shot down and spent 14 months in a POW camp. Following the surrender of Germany, on May 6, 1945, Ed was released and reunited with Irene. Irene and Ed married on July 7, 1945, in Newport News, Virginia. Ed's military service was recognized and he was with Full Military Funeral Honors Ceremony; Ed retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserves as a Major.

She was born April 29, 1929, in Johnston County, North Carolina. She is the daughter of the late Resley and Randy Edwards Hill; and widow of Pee Wee Hayes; and sister of the late Joseph Lynwood Hill Sr. and Kenneth Ray Hill. She is the grandmother of Amanda Gray Dixon. Ethel owned and operated Hayes Custom Drapery for many years. She is buried in Evergreen Memorial Park.
